It's Great to be an Auburn Tiger!

One more time in Auburn for me this football season. I was able to go to the AU/UGA game last Saturday, and boy was it fun. S and the kids stayed home while I spent the weekend with Sporty Mama and her family. I was completely exhausted when I got home but it was totally worth it. We won, in convincing fashion, and are headed to the SEC Championship. I have been so blessed this season to see three football games, something that hasn't happened since I was a student at AU.

And every time I walk in Jordan-Hare Stadium, I feel like I'm home again...

Homecoming

We were blessed to be able to go to The Loveliest Village again this football season. This time, we were able to bring the kids along. We had a wonderful time taking them to Tiger Walk (S's first time, too), the game, and then to Toomer's Corner to roll the trees.

That's Cam's head in the middle. I'm proud of his accomplishments this season no matter what is being said about him these days. And he's just as impressive off the field.

A-U-B-U-R-N!

Thanks to Sporty Mama, S and I were able to go the AU/Clemson game this weekend. While it was WAY too close for my liking and we got home super late (2:00 am!) it was totally worth it. I am still recovering from the very late night but was so thankful for the opportunity to see my Auburn Tigers play in person. I also was able to have a mini sorority reunion with several Zeta sisters, some of whom I hadn't seen in over 10 years. We had a wonderful time reminiscing and catching up. We even saw the GameDay crew at the restaurant where we had dinner!

Not all the pictures are of the best quality but it's the best I could do with my little camera. Now I'm off to recover from what feels like jet lag...

Of Deodorant, Football, Pizza and Coffee

Ready for some random thoughts by Mama? Here they come.

1. I had to buy deodorant the other day. Since I had to go to the grocery store anyway, I thought I'd just get it there. The kind I had been using was $4.93. I'll give you a minute to recoup from that. Yes, it was almost $5 for a small stick of deodorant. I can assure you I didn't pay that much for it when I first bought it. And I didn't pay that much for it this time, either. I went for the old standby, the one I've used on and off for years. It was much cheaper. When did deodorant become so expensive?

2. Auburn football (yes, Sporty Mama, I'm going there). It's a pitiful sight when you lose to Vandy. I don't care how good Vandy is and how bad Auburn is playing, you don't lose to Vandy. I'm going to stand behind my Auburn Tigers through thick and thin and this is definitely thin. We've got to do something about this offense if we're going to make it through the rest of the season. Let's just say it was bad enough that my fellow Auburn friend here in town called not once but twice during the game. We only talk if Auburn isn't doing well.

3. I finally found a pizza crust recipe that I really like. It's crispy, has great flavor and this method of cooking it makes it even better. This is the reward I get for getting up with H on Saturday morning and watching TV.

4. We lived in this small town for two years before we got one of these stores. That would mean it didn't arrive here until 2005. We are now getting a second one closer to my house, complete with drive-thru. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing given my new love of coffee. And going up just down from that one is one of these. I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be good for my waistline. (We currently don't have one of those particular fast food places even though we have every other one known to man. Well, except for this and we can't seem to get them east of the Mississippi.)

Waaaaar Eagle, Hey!

This is my favorite time of the year: football season. College football, that is. And Labor Day weekend is always great because there are five, yes FIVE, days of college football. My beloved Auburn Tigers began their season in style, winning 34-0. They weren't on TV (at least any station I get and I wasn't paying for this game) but will be this Saturday. I'm pumped! We even have plans to watch this game with some fellow Tiger fans. I've watched football all weekend, enjoying every last minute of it, even if it's a game I have no interest in.

So if you're down my way any time soon, drop on in. But if it's a Saturday, be prepared to watch football. Besides, there's always good food to go with a good game.

What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

Tonight, I'll be watching my beloved Auburn Tigers take on those other tigers from Clemson. I have plans to lounge around for awhile and watch this one last game of Auburn's 2007 football season. I really hate this time of year, when football season is over. It's just such a sad time. But before I know it, it will be September, K, L, and H will be a year older and I'll be gearing up for the start of the 2008 season.

Can You Smell It?

Yes, my friends, that's the start of college football season. This is, by far, my favorite time of the year! I'm ready for the weather to cool off, though. Tonight, my beloved Auburn Tigers take the field and I'm anxious and excited all at once. H is wearing his Auburn outfit to get into the spirit of things. I haven't taken a picture yet and he's asleep right now. I'll take and post those when I get a chance.
